Can the 2019 Acura NSX Outperform a Race Car?
Only a few cars can really fulfill a driver’s need for speed. Expertly crafted engines and sculpted bodies are all big components in how fast a car can go. The aerodynamic profile of a car is just as important as the mechanical output.
Most people know that the cars running laps at the Daytona 500 are a lot more powerful than your average car. There are a few cars out there that feel fast and powerful, but none of them are NASCAR-level cars. This fact might not be as true as we thought it was, though. Acura put their 2019 Acura NSX against its racecar counterpart, the 2019 Acura NSX GT3 Evo.
Is the 2019 Acura NSX or 2019 Acura NSX GT3 Evo Faster?
The 2019 Acura NSX is a supercar, but how will it fare against a car made for racing? To compare the cars, each one was put through a number of challenges. 0-60 runs, braking tests, ease of use, and lap times were all tested to see how they compare. The two cars have a lot of similarities thanks to their similar construction.
One of the biggest shared features is how they are built for speed. An ultra-rigid and lightweight aluminum frame is the foundation these two cars are built on. Each car also uses a 3.5L V6 engine, with the NSX GT3 Evo using a slightly modified version to comply with GT3 competition standards. The cars perform very similarly thanks to their shared features.
